Goodbye Arizona and thanks for the memories!

We knew this day would come. After two months of fun, dust and spectacular sunsets, it’s time to move on.

I can’t speak for the rest of the state but the Lake Havasu area is well worth going to. We’ve seen 62 sunsets here. Not a bad one among them and I can count on one hand the number that were simply average. The rest have put on a magnificent display of color and vibrancy.

We have done so much off-roading during our time here. It has never ceased to amaze me though how many different terrains you wind up driving through on the same trails.

The scenery here is spectacular, especially the mountains. To me they look like shadow box cutouts. Layer upon layer of jagged rock with space between the ridges.

There is more than just amazing mountains to stare at. I finally saw wild palm trees. A whole forest of them in fact.

The greenery in the back are palm tree tops

We found an abandoned mine, a few shallow caves and the cacti are neat to see.

The locals can be quite friendly…

…or very aloof.

There is such a variety of places to hike here. Most of the mountains we drove past would make for amazing short climbs, while our last hike proved just how spine like some of the ridges are. We decided to walk along the ridge line of these hills.

Can’t be that bad of walk

They do appear to be getting narrower

Yep, this was the walking path along the top

Of course, once we reached the end and needed to go down, it didn’t seem that steep. Looking at it from a distance it still doesn’t seem too bad…

We went down the left side

…we wrong only mildly wrong. I stopped to take a photo of where we came from about a quarter of the way down. It was pretty easy after this.

Looking up at where we came from

All in all, the two months we spent here was amazing. If you’re looking for an outdoorsy place to visit (as long as it’s not during the summer months) you should try Lake Havasu. You won’t regret it.
