Wagons Ho!

Honestly, we only spent one evening in Palm Springs itself. We walked the main street, had dinner, and basically decided that was really all the time we needed in the town.

Especially when you find something as entertaining and unique as a covered wagon ride nearby.

Covered Wagon Tours, the company providing this experience, has a beautiful place for you to wait for your ride begin.

There's even an outdoor area to play a variety of games.

The wagon ride took us out to an oasis filled with Palm trees which sits on the San Andreas Fault. Here the guide proceeded to tell us the big lie about Palm trees. They are not trees! They are over ambitious grass!

My trust in the naming convention has been shattered.

The wagon tour, however, was terrific and the guides were amazing. We learned about the fault line, the local critters as well as other plants in a new and interesting way.

Back at the ranch dinner accompanied by live music was part of our package. With only about 40 people mulling around, the place was quit pleasant. Enough people to not be boring but not so many as to feel crowded.

We made some friends sitting around a large firepit (isn't that what you do in this type of situation?) who shared with us some places to see when we reached San Francisco.

A great experience in a wonderful desert setting.
